UCI’s fifth annual fall celebration Shocktoberfest and Midnight Magic event took place on Friday, October 15th featuring acts like Kevin Rudolf (featuring DJ E-Rock) and Cali Swag District. Thousands of students flocked to Mesa Road and the Bren Events center after waiting hours in line for their wristband the previous night before. They enjoyed all the free Pop Chips and ice cream bars they could handle as acts like MCIA took the stage and danced their hearts out. Slam dunks from the men and women’s basketball team (including a surprise flying dunk from new men’s basketball coach Russell Turner) brought up everyone’s energy for the season at Midnight Magic. Then Cali Swag District taught everyone how to “dougie” before Kevin Rudolf took the stage. Staff photographers Alex Yee and Diane Jong were there to catch all the action.
