With their first round of 32 appearance in the NCAA tournament, the UC Irvine Anteaters faced off against the twelfth-seeded Oregon Ducks in hopes of continuing their extraordinary run into the Sweet 16 and extend their 17 game winning streak, the longest current streak in the entire nation.
The long awaited four year drought is finally over and the UC Irvine men’s basketball team is back in the NCAA National Tournament. The Anteaters heading in as the 13 seed as they faced the fourth seeded Kansas State Wildcats this past Friday, in the first round of the nationally televised event.
This past Saturday, the red hot UC Irvine Anteaters faced off against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos in a nationally-televised home match-up, in hopes of extending their seven-game winning streak in front of the home fans and the people watching at home. By Henry Curi
The UC Irvine men’s basketball team faced off against the second-seeded Cal State Fullerton Titans on Feb. 6 in their first regular season matchup. Both coming off of a five-game winning streak, the two teams battled in a much anticipated tournament rematch following last year’s competition which saw Fullerton coming out on top.
On January 10, UC Irvine Men’s basketball team faced off against conference rival UC Davis Aggies at home. It was the first regular season game for both teams, who have had intense and deciding match-ups in the previous two seasons.
UCI has a proud and illustrious career as a chronically underrated sports school. However, during the summer there is one team on campus that can’t be ignored.
