It’s been 25 years since the release of The Joy Luck Club, the first major Hollywood movie to have an all-Asian cast and portray the contemporary Asian-American experience on screen.
In terms of diversity, Hollywood has made some progress in recent times, with films like “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Black Panther,” “Girl’s Trip” and “Ocean’s Eight” featuring more women and people of color in starring roles.
