‘An Inconvenient Truth’ About Oil

I hope oil hits $400 per barrel. I say that without a drop of sarcasm. The only thing that can burrow through the myriad of government-erected barriers to high supply and low prices is the market.

Philly Scouting Out Solutions for Boy Scouts

I spent 14 years of my life in a neckerchief and short-shorts. Yes, approximately once a week, beginning at the age of four, I put on a Cub Scout uniform and went to meetings.

The Porous Politics of Branding

Liberalism and conservatism are two terms that are often heard during political discourse. However, while presidential candidates talk about all kinds of policy initiatives and philosophical viewpoints, it is rare to hear them refer to themselves, their proposals or their ideas as conservative or liberal.

Viacom Sues YouTube with a Sweet Smile

Staff Farewell by Yolanda Vo

I've been working at the New University since my freshman year—a writer my first year, associate editor my second, copy editor my third and managing editor my fourth. Four years of reading, writing and editing. Three years with one less day in the week for myself—my Sunday instead dedicated to the production of the New U newspaper. Exhausting? Definitely.

Women's suffrage has come a long way from the sexist ideas of the past. And yes, it's awful that there are still some men who rape, beat, oppress and objectify women. Thankfully, those men are not the majority. Nobody likes those guys.

CA Case Says ‘Yes’ to Gay Marriage

The May 15 California Supreme Court ruling was a victory for same-sex couples all over the nation. This case marks one more step in the fight for civil rights in our country. Chief Justice Ronald George wrote the court's decision in Lockyer v. City and County of San Francisco.

Ban Marriage to Break Barriers

If there is a legitimate and sincere desire for equality and a lifestyle free from beliefs imposed by others, then the appropriate ruling should have been to ban all marriage as recognized by the state in favor of domestic partnerships for all couples.
