OMG, the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is finally making some changes!

Things are starting to look worse and worse for Netflix. First, they’re fighting the battle for net going up against the likes of Comcast and Cox. Second, bandwidth-capped Internet has already begun to roll out in Canada, forcing Netflix to release a new Great-White-North-tier video quality setting that uses a third of the bandwidth but also greatly reduces the picture quality. And, just this past week, Showtime and Starz have announced that they will be limiting the availability of their TV series on Netflix’s streaming service.

With just 581 days left until the 2012 Presidential election, the political world is buzzing with speculation about which GOP candidate will challenge President Obama. There is no doubt that when you are looking through a SmartPhone like the Apple iPhone, the most impressive aspect of it is the variety of applications offered. There are apps for work, games, sports, news, money and more. In fact, one of the primary reasons to have a smart phone is the variety of applications, both free and priced, that are offered.

The doors open and the chilly air rushes in tainted with tobacco smoke. It is finals week in the Gateway Study Center; home to garish bright lighting, trashcans full of used coffee cups, energy drinks and stressed students. Study sessions at Gateway are not only a finals week ritual, but also a necessity. The hushed murmurs of other students and long hours make it a haven for any college student.

This letter is in response to the recent New University article titled, “Irvine: No Pets For You!” I was not aware that the City of Irvine was considering a ban of the sale of dogs or cats, but I am extremely happy that they are. I do not see how banning the sale of animals in Irvine will hamper anyone’s ability to have a dog, cat or reptile as a member of their household. There are so many animals ready for adoption at the Irvine Animal Shelter. There are even more pets available for adoption at the extremely overcrowded shelter in Orange, across from the Block.

When a 9.0 earthquake and the concurrent tsunami hit Japan in March, the entire world watched as the forces of nature ravaged one of the most developed countries in the world. Radio programs, television screens and websites flickered with sounds and images of pure devastation. Over 10,000 lives were lost, and many are still missing. News continues to pour in daily about the effects of the disaster.
