The UC Irvine women's volleyball team swept UC Riverside in its Big West Conference opener (25-21, 25-18, 25-17) behind 15 kills from senior Lauren Kellerman. Fellow senior Shannon Homan (pictured above) registered eight kills and only committed one error. UCI will play two games at Crawford Court this week. They will take on Cal State Northridge on Friday at 7 p.m. and Cal State Fullerton Saturday at 7 p.m.

Junior Kate Berrini scored three goals in a stunning 3-2 comeback victory for the Anteaters on Friday night at Anteater Stadium. The three goals came in the final 15:31 of the match.
With a spotless reputation and neighborhoods to match, Irvine isn't exactly the most exciting place to be. I mean, most everything around here closes by 10 p.m. In this sheltered little suburb, there's nothing to do but get wasted at the nearest dorm or open pad, right? Wrong.
Stepping off the airplane into another continent, I felt like I was in "Alice in Wonderland." One of the reasons I wanted to study in England was because I did not want a total culture shock.
